Product Evidence Library

How SecureDoor ranks products — tested results, professional support, spec confirmation, Canadian availability, and known failure modes.

We rank products by evidence, not by commission. The categories below explain how each rating is assigned.

Evidence levels

Tested — independent kick, pry, drill, pick, destructive, or field-style test by a third party. Not a manufacturer demo.

Professional support — reviewed by a locksmith, installer, contractor, security professional, or a standards body such as ANSI/BHMA.

Spec-confirmed — manufacturer specifications used only for model number, grade, thickness, screw length, compatibility, and installation method. Specs describe the product; they do not prove performance.

Retail-confirmed — Canadian availability and price range verified separately from the manufacturer's claims.

Caution — popular product with a known weakness, a Quebec-specific limitation, discontinued support, or evidence that does not hold up under review.

What each product card shows

  • Full product name and model number.
  • Amazon.ca or Canadian retailer link where available.
  • Grade, certification, or thickness.
  • CAD price range.
  • Evidence level and supporting sources.
  • Known failure modes.
  • Canadian retailer availability.

Why this matters

If a product is popular but weakly proven, the review says so. If a smart lock has a strong app but a weaker cylinder, the review says so. If a security film is thick but installed as a daylight cut without edge attachment, the review explains what that means for forced-entry delay.

That transparency is the standard every product in this database is held to.

The full ranked product lists are available in the review roundups.
